Partner Resources

Welcome Zeno Partners!

Thank you for joining Zeno to spark joy and inspire a love of math! This is your one stop shop for planning our partnership together. Please note that some materials and offerings vary depending on your partnership type. If you are unsure which type of partnership materials to use or which offering to schedule, please reach out to your Zeno lead for support!

step 1

Intake

New Partners
If this is the first time you are partnering with Zeno, please fill out our Zeno Partner lntake Form to gather key program and contact information. This helps us gather everything we need to be great partners and track critical data to improve and sustain our services.

Returning Partners
If you are a returning partner you will receive a Data Review Form with the information we have on file from the previous year. Please update the site information, data, and contact details in the form and return to Kate Sedney-Read at operations@zenomath.org.

step 2

Partner Launch Meeting

Once you've completed your partner intake you can schedule your partner launch meeting with your Zeno lead! In this meeting, you will review what resources and trainings are available to your organization, review our implementation calendar for the year and begin scheduling trainings and planning sessions with your Zeno lead.

step 3

Program Scheduling

You can begin scheduling each of your Zeno program offerings by clicking on the Virtual or In-Person buttons! To learn more about each offering click the drop down or reach out to your Zeno lead for more information.

* Please note that your Zeno lead may not be available to facilitate all offerings. We are a small, deeply collaborative team distributed across multiple regions and have specific team members specializing in facilitation of our Zeno Essentials, Family Math Party, and Classroom Modeling offerings. You can select a specific team member on the Bookings page or select “Anyone” to be assigned to any available team member. If you would like a date or time that does not show as available, please reach out to your Zeno lead.

Zeno Essentials Sessions

Session Description

Session Materials

Math is Racial Equity: Introduces you to Zeno, why we center racial equity, and our Five Zeno Practices, which are key for engaging families in the growing movement to spread the love of math.

Math is Literacy: Explore how to incorporate math while reading books and notice racial equity! Tools for how to mathematize literature and practice math with any book. We will also dive into the importance and impact of cultural representation in literature.

Math is Family Engagement: Discuss strategies for engaging families of early learners in meaningful ways. This session is going to focus heavily on our Zeno ‘Practice of Connect’. Start with a warm-up, then discuss aspects of access and ways to engage families, our senses including how engagement has evolved.

Math is for Everyone: Interactively explore the learning objectives for early math and best practices for engaging early learners! Start with a warm-up, then the history of math, and how to use the Zeno ‘Practice of Build’ to engage different learning styles, making math accessible and enjoyable for all children.

Math is Art and Movement: Discuss the connection between math, art, and movement! Start with a warm-up, then discuss bias in movement and research that supports the use of art and movement in math. Create a self-portrait activity, play some body math and then do a final group activity.

Math is Social Emotional Learning: Coming Summer 2021! Discuss the connection between Social-Emotional Learning and math. We all know that developing children socially and emotionally is critical during these early years, but this session will help participants to take a culturally relevant and sensitive approach to both the way they teach social emotional learning and mathematics.

At Zeno we believe that what books in the home do for literature, games in the home will do for math!  As a partner you are the key messenger for how to use games to facilitate joyful math moments at home and you can use the games in your setting to ensure children and families feel confident and competent in the math and play of each game set.  Below are resources that tie our games to the early math standards, suggestions on playing the games in small groups, activities related to game math concepts for use in the classroom and home visit environments, as well as a book companion.  This is the starting point to integrating math into your existing services!

Here are some ways you can make it math!

Zeno believes in the power of parents to be their child's first teacher and we want to support them in this work. Learn more about Zeno's approach to working with adults and engaging families in the early math movement.

Family Engagement Practices

  • Zeno is not a curriculum

Zeno prioritizes play and fun within an educational context. There is no beginning, middle, or end to our work, rather it's an approach to life learning.

  • Include families

The magic of our work happens when family members interact and enjoy the experience together.

  • Racial Equity

Everyone is welcome at Zeno and we want to ensure that they seen themselves reflected in our products. All of our games come in 10 different languages and the artwork reflects the various communities we partner.

  • Tenants of family engagement

  • Hosting a Family Math Party

The best way to establish math practices at home is to host gatherings where families can learn about the games and practices together.

  • Integrating Cultural Math Games and Activities

Math is the universal language and exists in every culture around the globe. Find ways to incorporate the math games and activities native to the community you are working with.
