Hello Wonderful Zeno Families!
It is our goal to continue to spark joy and inspire a love of math. You can engage your children in each math concept before they even receive their games! Let's explore the math concept of Sorting.
Sorting Activities
- Sort family members based on different attributes. Ask them to think of attributes (age, color of t-shirt, sleeve length, etc.) and then use one of those attributes to sort them into groups. Try again using a new attribute.
- While cleaning up, try asking your child to put their toys away based on a new attribute (for example, put blocks away based on their size rather than shape).
- During meals, talk about the different categories of food with your child (fruits, vegetables, grains, etc.). Have them try sorting their food into these categories.
- When doing laundry, work together with your child to sort socks. Have them see if they can find each sock’s match. Talk with your child about how they know whether or not the socks match.
- When going on a walk outside, collect different items from nature with your child. Have them see if they can sort the items they collected. They can make one group for leaves, another for sticks, and a third for rocks.

Nuestro objetivo es continuar generando alegría e inspirando el amor por las matemáticas. ¡Puede involucrar a sus hijos en cada concepto matemático incluso antes de que reciban sus juegos! Exploremos el concepto matemático de Clasificación.
Activities de Clasificación
- Ordenar los miembros de la familia en función de diferentes atributos. Pídales que piensen en atributos (edad, color de la camiseta, largo de la manga, etc.) y luego use uno de esos atributos para clasificarlos en grupos. Vuelva a intentarlo con un nuevo atributo.
- Mientras limpia, intente pedirle a su hijo que guarde sus juguetes según un nuevo atributo (por ejemplo, guarde los bloques según su tamaño en lugar de su forma).
- Durante las comidas, hable con su hijo sobre las diferentes categorías de alimentos (frutas, verduras, granos, etc.). Pídales que traten de clasificar su comida en estas categorías.
- Cuando lave la ropa, trabaje junto con su hijo para clasificar los calcetines. Pídales que vean si pueden encontrar la combinación de cada calcetín. Hable con su hijo sobre cómo sabe si los calcetines combinan o no.
- Cuando salga a caminar al aire libre, recolecte diferentes elementos de la naturaleza con su hijo. Pídales que vean si pueden clasificar los artículos que recolectaron. Pueden hacer un grupo de hojas, otro de palos y un tercero de rocas.
