Volunteer Spotlight: Sherrie Takaki

Zeno is pleased to showcase volunteers who exemplify our organizational values and are passionate about our mission!

Favorite Number: 13 (her lucky number!)
Favorite Pet Never Owned: Piglet or Hedgehog
Hometown: Honolulu, Hawaii

Sherrie first began volunteering with Zeno in early 2017. You may have seen her at a Family Math Night, Math + Science Mashup, or most recently at Make a Move for Math, Zeno’s annual fundraising dinner. Before and during the event Sherrie played a key role, procuring items for the auction and assisting our Volunteer Manager to ensure the event ran smoothly!

As a volunteer, Sherrie really enjoys “working with a local organization that is involved with our future generations and giving kids and parents an opportunity to have fun with education.” In addition to supporting Zeno, she volunteers for the Woodland Park Zoo, and before moving to Seattle participated in and coordinated volunteer opportunities in Santa Barbara. For Sherrie, the best part of volunteering is the people you get to know and work with.

When she’s not inspiring kids to love math, you can find Sherrie taking in the beautiful scenery of the Northwest, hiking, and playing soccer.

THANK YOU Sherrie for bringing joy and confidence in math to kids and families!
